NICET's four-level fire alarm certification for engineering technicians: exams plus documented work history at every level, personal recommendations at Levels III and IV, a Major Project at Level IV, recertification every three years via continuing professional development.

Variants
- NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level I
Entry certification: an 85-question, 110-minute exam plus a documented work history. Exam fee $235 effective August 2026.
- NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II
A 110-question, 155-minute exam plus expanded work history; the level many state and local fire-alarm rules reference for lead installers. Exam fee $325 effective August 2026.
- NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level III
A 115-question, 170-minute exam, work history, and personal recommendations; aimed at system layout and project responsibility. Exam fee $380 effective August 2026.
- NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level IV
The senior level: a 120-question, 290-minute exam (with scheduled break), work history, recommendations, and a Major Project submission. Exam fee $435 effective August 2026.
