BICSI Installer / Technician
BICSI's cabling installation ladder: Installer 1 (INST1), Installer 2 Copper (INSTC), Installer 2 Optical Fiber (INSTF), and Technician (TECH). Renewable credentials recertify on a three-year CEC cycle including one BICSI ethics course.

Variants
- BICSI Installer 1 (INST1)
Entry-level, non-renewable certificate covering pulling, terminating, and testing copper and coaxial cable. No prior ICT installation experience required to sit the exam.
- BICSI Installer 2, Copper (INSTC)
Copper installation certification; one eligibility path is six months of verifiable full-time structured cabling field experience plus completion of the Installer 1 program.
- BICSI Installer 2, Optical Fiber (INSTF)
Optical fiber installation certification, parallel to INSTC on the BICSI ladder.
- BICSI Technician (TECH)
Two-part exam: a 14-task hands-on performance exam (20 minutes per task) and a two-hour, 100-question written exam drawn from BICSI's ITSIMM. Eligibility via experience options (e.g. three years of field experience plus 35 hours of documented copper and fiber continuing education) or by holding Installer 2 credentials.
