What changed

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission posted a Fast Track recall on Oct. 8 for DR Power Equipment Pilot and Premier walk-behind trimmer mowers. CPSC says grass and debris can accumulate in the trimmer mowers and ignite, creating fire and burn hazards that pose a risk of serious injury or death.

The recalled models are T4X1076DMN, T4X1076DMNR, T4X1076DMNSD, T4X1176DMN, T4X1176DMN-1, T4X1176DMNR, TR43076DMN and TR43076DMNR. CPSC lists all serial numbers for each of those models as included.

The recall covers Pilot, Pilot Recon, Pilot SD, Premier and Premier Recon product descriptions. CPSC says the trimmer mowers are orange and black, have the DR Power logo on the top of the motor and frame above the cutter head, and are labeled “Premier” or “Pro” on the side of the frame. The model number is on a label on the side of the frame.

The recalled units were sold at Ace, TSC, Bomgaars, other home improvement, hardware and independent power equipment stores nationwide, and online at drpower.com from November 2022 through July 2026 for $380 to $550, according to CPSC. The importer is Generac Power Systems Inc. of Waukesha, Wisconsin; the products were manufactured in the United States and Vietnam. What it means for the shop

If your landscaping business owns one of these walk-behind trimmer mowers, check the model number before sending it back into use. CPSC says consumers should stop using the recalled trimmer mowers immediately and contact DR Power Equipment for a free repair kit.

CPSC says consumers who have concerns about installing the repair kit can contact DR Power Equipment to schedule a free repair installation from an authorized dealer. DR Power Equipment recall contacts listed by CPSC are 800-854-3194, [email protected] and drpower.com/recalls.

What remains unknown

The CPSC notice does not say whether these models are used mainly by commercial landscaping crews, municipalities, homeowners or another user group.

The notice also does not report dealer wait times, repair-kit availability, parts constraints, or whether commercial operators with multiple units receive different handling or scheduling terms. It does not provide OSHA, insurance or fleet-maintenance documentation guidance after removing units from service or completing the repair.
