National Board Commissioned Inspector
The National Board's inspector commissions, issued to individuals who meet education, experience, employment and examination requirements under NB-263 (RCI-1). The commission cannot be held freelance: the holder must be employed by a jurisdiction or an accredited inspection organization.
Variants
- National Board Inservice Inspector Commission (IS)
Issued to individuals qualified to inspect boilers and pressure vessels in installation and in service, rather than during new construction.
- National Board Authorized Inspector Commission (AI)
Issued to individuals qualified to perform the inspections that the ASME BPV Code requires during new construction. Earned through the National Board AI course, its examination and on-the-job training.
